Building Health from the Ground Up
This past week, we were featured on a panel of experts speaking on the need for local farming, importance of nutrition as a part of patient care, and more. Doctors For Change hosted “Building Health from the Ground Up” to discuss food insecurity, access to healthy and locally grown food, and the importance of local farming and sustainable food systems with partners at Houston Food Bank, Urban Harvest, Memorial Hermann, and Kids’ Meals.
Doctors For Change is a non-profit in Houston whose members believe that health care should be universal, comprehensive, affordable, and just. Established in early 2006, they have had a growing membership and believe that, as health professionals, they have a unique responsibility to address the problems of our health care system and serve as an educational resource for the entire community and as a forum through which to advocate for better health care.
